Annual Contest Promotes STEAM Education in Local Schools
Giti Tire, a global leader in tire manufacturing, proudly announces the winners of its esteemed STEAM Competition in Chester County, where the company’s first North American manufacturing facility stands.
This annual event underscores Giti Tire’s commitment to nurturing the region’s budding talent and fostering a passion for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. Students developed “Your Future/Smart City” projects in this year’s competition.
The winners of the 2025 competition are:
- Elementary Division – Lewisville Elementary School
- Middle School Division – Lewisville Middle School
- High School Division – Great Falls High School
Since establishing roots in North America, Giti Tire has actively contributed to shaping the future of engineering and manufacturing in the local community. Partnering with the Chester County School District, Giti Tire launched the Giti Math & Science clubs, now called Giti Tire STEAM Competition, enabling students to refine vital STEAM skills.
“Equipping our local students with the skills for tomorrow's tech-driven careers benefits both Giti Tire and our community," said Phang Wai Yeen, CEO of Giti Tire Manufacturing (USA) Ltd.
"STEAM education encourages students to approach problems from different angles, fostering creativity and innovation. These skills are crucial in addressing the complex challenges we face in society, whether in manufacturing, healthcare, technology, or the environment.”
In this year’s competition, students created a model of a sustainable smart city, incorporating 3D printed materials alongside crafting supplies. This project encouraged understanding of smart city concepts and fostered teamwork through STEAM integration.
Judging was based on the originality of the city design and the smart city solutions; quality and accuracy of the 3D printed components and the integration of smart technologies; and effectiveness of the sustainable solutions incorporated in the city model, as well as the overall presentation and demonstrated teamwork.
