Annual Program Highlights Real-World Innovation and Future Workforce Development

Giti Tire, a global leader in tire manufacturing, today announced the winners of its annual Chester County STEAM Competition, celebrating student innovation and reinforcing the company’s commitment to education in the community where its North American manufacturing facility is located.

The 2026 winners are:

  • Elementary school: Chester Park School of Fine Arts
  • Middle school: Great Falls Middle
  • High School: Lewisville HS

“Programs like this go far beyond the classroom,” said Phang Wai Yeen, CEO of Giti Tire (USA).

“When students engage in STEAM learning, they build critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills that translate directly into real-world impact. Whether it’s advanced manufacturing, digital technology or sustainable design, these experiences help prepare the next generation to lead and innovate.”

Research continues to show the growing importance of STEAM education. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, STEAM-related occupations are projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations over the next decade, with millions of new jobs requiring technical and analytical skills. Additionally, studies show students engaged in STEAM programs are more likely to develop collaboration, adaptability and innovation capabilities—skills essential to both economic growth and community development.

Elementary students explored “Wild Signals: How Animals Use Patterns to Communicate,” designing prototypes that demonstrate how organisms send and receive information.

Middle school students tackled bio-inspired engineering, creating 3D-printed models integrated with Arduino components to simulate real-time sensory responses.

High school participants focused on digital communication systems, designing innovative solutions for transmitting and storing information in ways that address real-world challenges across communities and environments.

Since establishing its presence in South Carolina, Giti Tire has invested in local education initiatives aimed at building a skilled future workforce. In partnership with the Chester County School District, the company launched its original Math & Science Clubs—now evolved into the Giti Tire STEAM Competition—to give students hands-on experience in applied learning.
