The top story in the US tire industry magazines on June 29 was the announcement of the Giti brand coming to America.
All three of the tire publications – Modern Tire Dealer, Tire Business and Tire Review – alerted their tire dealer audiences with stories at the top of their websites. The Giti news was also the marquee story in their daily newsletters and print stories which will appear in July
The media coverage highlighted the Giti branded tires being produced at the Richburg, SC, plant – GitiComfort XA1 grand touring tire, WeatherSmart all-weather tire, GitiXcursion AT all-terrain tire, and the GitiXcursion XT rugged terrain tire. It was also noted that the WinterSmart purpose-built winter tire will be introduced this fall; it is the only winter tire being produced in a U.S. tire plant.
Tire Business quoted David Poling, Vice President R&D and Technical, at the Giti Tire R&D Center in Richburg: “The introduction of the Giti brand represents the culmination of years of development work from the North American R&D center. Having our R&D collocated at the manufacturing plant in Richburg allows us to move from design to production with unmatched speed and precision.”
Michael Markoff, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Giti Tire USA, emphasized, “The introduction of the Giti brand in the United States is a natural step in our long-term growth strategy. For tire dealers, this is about more than adding another brand to the rack. It is about gaining access to a broad portfolio of products engineered for this market, produced in the United States, and supported by programs like GitiGuardian that help build trust and close sales. Tire dealers remain at the heart of this industry, and we are committed to helping them grow with brands that deliver value, confidence and dependable supply.”
In an exclusive interview with Modern Tire Dealer which will be published soon, Giti Tire USA CEO Phang Wai Yeen notes that Giti team members are the secrets to the company’s success: “Having the right manufacturing equipment and processes in place are obviously important. Having well-trained and motivated team members is the essential ingredient. This, I believe, is the secret to our success at the Richburg plant.”
